Yona Network are pleased to announce adoption of Neon Stack - an EVM to SVM-compatible tech stack
Yona Network is adopting Neon Stack to explore the prospects of launching EVM-based apps in the Yona ecosystem. This opens up new opportunities for developers with a flexible approach.
Overcoming the EMV-SVM compatibility barrier is made possible through the integration of Neon Stack, a production-ready pioneering technology package which has been live and market-tested since July 2023. Neon Stack is a standardized development stack designed to facilitate EVM compatibility for developers of smart contracts in SVM—based networks.
The implementation of such a solution may allow connecting the worlds of Bitcoin, SVM-based Yona L2 and EVM. Bitcoin provides the security and liquidity of BTC in the Yona ecosystem, Solana VM offers users and developers unsurpassed speed with security. Neon Stack can enable access to EVM ecosystems to use Yona network and the ability to connect EVM to SVM. And this solution can also enable Yona to integrate services such as oracles - Chainlink, Pyth; Covalent and The Graph indexers; SDKs and APIs like web3.js, Open Zepellin, Remix IDE and many others. This approach creates a real modularity with the widest coverage.
With this, Yona Network will also now have the potential to create new channels to enable BTC liquidity from the Bitcoin network to be brought into other ecosystems like Solana. While this is a wider scope and will need considerable work in terms of partnerships and infra, however, doors have been unlocked to allow for the creation of new economic primitives and strategies using BTC.
Neon Stack explained
Neon Stack is a standardized development stack designed to facilitate EVM compatibility for developers of smart contracts in SVM-based blockchain networks. Simply put, it serves as a tool or framework that allows SVM-based blockchain networks to easily integrate support for Ethereum-based Solidity dApps applications. Thus, Neon Stack provides flexibility to work with the usual set of blockchain tools. Provides developers with familiar Ethereum development toolkits such as Hardhat, Remix and Truffle when moving to the Solana calculation level, simplifying the development process.
It allows EVM-compatible apis (for example, written in Solidity or Vyper) to take advantage of Solana's network advantages: low fees, high transaction speed and transaction execution capabilities. Neon Proxy packages an EVM transaction into a Solana transaction and provides a Web3 API for dApps. This removes the burden of implementing transformation logic, allowing project teams to focus on building their products/services without worrying about compatibility between their Solidity smart contracts and the Solana ecosystem. Neon Stack is time-tested and has been running on the main Solana network since July 2023.
Although there are many EVM-based stacks on the market today, such as OP Stack and Polygon CDK, they only encourage innovation in the Ethereum ecosystem. Neon Stack is the first EVM stack on SVM and the only core network solution that offers such compatibility between two L1s — Solana and Ethereum — and their own ecosystems.
The Neon Stack offering has been battle-tested on the Solana core network since July 2023, and other protocols such as Eclipse and Sonic SVM have deployed the tech stack.
Neon EVM
Neon EVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) that empowers developers to build and deploy dApps seamlessly from EVM chains to Solana, all from their existing codebase. It operates as a program on Solana that accepts transaction requests via public PRC endpoints. It gives developers the power to directly deploy Ethereum dApps with minimal reconfiguration to the code while benefiting from Solana's technical advantages, such as parallel processing.
